Growing Demand for Eco-Friendly Packaging
Jenson George, the Managing Director for Carbon Middle East, speaks exclusively to Print Pack MEA about their participation in GPP 2022
What is the theme of your participation at GPP this year?
At GPP this year, we want to raise awareness around sustainable packaging through our project management & strategic consultancy solutions.
Which products and solutions will you be highlighting at the event?
Our key highlight is a specialty substrate called Paptic. It is a wood-based sustainable material that can be handled well on the existing paper converting lines. The applications using Paptic are immense as they can be printed, folded, and stitched at high speeds.
How has 2021 been for your company and what were the learnings from that year?
2021 has been a good year with some innovative projects in the sustainable packaging sector. There has been a lot of awareness towards the reduction of single-use plastics and an increase in circular economy projects. It is time, all stakeholders within the packaging industry started contributing toward this common purpose.
How is 2022 shaping up so far and how will you use the learnings from 2021 to better your strategies for this year?
As we see brands, converters and consumers are all coming together to redefine the packaging ecosystem to make it more eco-friendly, we will see many more innovations and investments happening in this sector.
Do you see a general trend towards eco-friendly packaging and sustainability goals in the packing industry?
Yes, there is growing awareness and conscious demand among consumers toward eco-friendly packaging. Many consumer decisions are being based on that and brands have not only recognized this trend but have also started taking initiatives towards it.
What do you expect to achieve through your participation at GPP?
Our focus during GPP is simple and clear. We are there to raise awareness and help clients with sustainable packaging projects.
